Vitamin A products such as retinal, retinol and retinoate are generally avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless specifically advised by a clinician. Exfoliating acids, benzoyl peroxide, strong pigment products and post-treatment routines may also need adjustment. Stop and ask for advice if burning, swelling, rash or severe irritation occurs.
